Privacy

TripScout shows scheduled bus and ferry times for the Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Wight. There are no accounts, no advertising and no tracking, on the website or in the mobile app.

The mobile app

• The app collects no personal data: no sign-in, no analytics SDK, no advertising identifiers, no crash reporting.
• If you tap “Use my location”, your position is compared on your device against the bundled stop list to show nearby stops. It is never sent to any server and never stored. The feature is optional; browsing and search work without it.
• Ferry times are fetched from this website. That request contains the ferry route and dates you are viewing, and — like any web request — your IP address, which our hosting provider (Vercel) may hold briefly in its request logs. We do not use it to identify you.
• Saved stops, your preferred island and a cache of recently viewed ferry times are stored only on your device. Deleting the app deletes them.

The website

• We use Vercel Analytics, a cookieless, aggregate page-view counter. It does not track you across sites and we cannot identify you from it.
• The live map and route search use the Google Maps API; Google receives the map tiles and directions requests your browser makes, under Google’s privacy policy.
• If you use the optional chat assistant, the text you type is processed by an AI model via Vercel’s AI Gateway to answer your question, and is not used to build a profile of you.
• If you choose to photograph a bus-shelter timetable for the community-timetable feature, the photo and the location it was taken are stored so the timetable can be verified and published. Don’t include people in these photos.
